Areas of use for nitrogen
Air Liquide supplies liquid and gaseous nitrogen to every industry. For example, refineries and petrochemical plants require large volumes of gaseous nitrogen to purge oxygen and moisture in blanketing operations. The food and beverage industry requires varying quantities of both liquid and gaseous nitrogen for food processing and packaging applications and to help maintain safe temperatures as food products are stored and transported.
Air Liquide is a leading supplier of compressed nitrogen gas and liquid nitrogen in a range of purities and concentrations.
In many industries, nitrogen is used in smaller quantities to zero and purge analytical instrumentation. High-purity specialty gas grades are readily available to meet many regulatory requirements, such as 72.2 and 40 CFR for acid rain, Title 40 Part 86 and Part 1065.750, and Euro 6 raw and dilute for engine emissions testing.
Air Liquide engineers various grades of pure nitrogen under the ALPHAGAZ™ brand. ALPHAGAZ™ 1 grade of pure nitrogen has a purity of 99.999%. ALPHAGAZ™ 2 is ultra-pure at 99.9998%, perfect for critical laboratory and analytic applications. Both ALPHAGAZ™ grades of nitrogen come in compressed gas cylinders equipped with ergonomic open caps and SMARTOP™ valves. Nitrogen in cryogenic liquid form is also available under ALPHAGAZ™ 1000. Nitrogen gas mixtures are available when high accuracy and precision are demanded for your application.
Nitrogen for the food and beverage industry
Nitrogen is used in the food and beverage industry in a number of different applications. Nitrogen is mainly used for cooling and freezing, modified atmosphere in packaging and temperature control during storage and transport of food. High and consistent quality is an absolute requirement in the production of food and beverages. Air Liquide's product program for food and beverages is specially adapted to today's requirements in food production, including full traceability and HACCP.
Nitrogen for analysis
Air Liquide supplies both liquid nitrogen, which is sometimes also called liquid nitrogen (LIN), and gaseous nitrogen or nitrogen gas in the purity and volumes you need for your process. We offer pure nitrogen gas under our product name ALPHAGAZ™ . ALPHAGAZ 1 nitrogen has a purity of 99.999%, while ALPHAGAZ 2 has a purity of 99.9999% and is suitable for critical laboratory and analytical applications.
